Anonymous asked: Do you think Happy Endings is in danger of not getting renewed for a third season?
as any fan of television knows, you can’t get too comfortable with a show because it can be inexcusably taken from you at any moment. Happy Endings has a lot of things going for it: it is ABC’s second-highest rated comedy, it is extremely young-skewing, it has built up a nice fanbase, and it has a talented cast that is consistently funny.
But of course the one big, glaring deterrent for a third season would be the timeslot. It bleeds a lot of viewers from Modern Family, and maybe is even starting to bring down Revenge. Factor that in with Apartment 23 taking over the timeslot on April 11, and it could be a long off-season. You also had ABC take their time to pick up Happy Endings for the full 22 episodes, PLUS it rarely gets promoted.
With all that said, I think Happy Endings will get a third season. ABC has a ton of dud dramas that will be *officially* canceled (Body of Proof, Pan Am, possibly The River) that will leave some room for comedies. Work It and Man Up flopped, and Last Man Standing is fading. Everything else is performing decently given the competition it faces. I’d expect Happy Endings to move to Tuesdays next season, depending on how Apartment 23 performs at 9:30.
